February 2021 Instagram AMA

These are the questions I received during my February Instagram Ask Me Anything!

I love this as it’s a way for you to be able to ask any questions you may have anonymously (well I can see who asks them but no viewer can)!

  1. Favorite photography training or course

I learned SO much through Tavia Redburn’s “Marketing School for Birth Photographer’s” course. I learned more about myself and running my business than I have in any other course I’ve taken (and I’ve taken quite a bit). She also offers a course for new birth photographers called “The Beauty in Birth Photography Course” and it goes over all the basics of photography as well as the birth space and is great for beginner’s. These two courses are only open at certain times so getting on the waitlist is key to know when registration opens for them!

My second top favorite course I’ve taken was a 2 day mock birth workshop with Lacey Barrett. I loved every single second of her workshop and learned so much about who I am as a birth photographer as well as a human being and my energy. It was at her workshop that I spoke our move to MN into existence 💕

  2. What are you looking forward to about the big move?

SEASONS 😍 But seriously, I’m so fucking excited to have legit season’s and an actual winter. I LOVE snow and the cold. I’m also super stoked on the cheaper cost of living because let’s be honest, CA is expensive AF to live in.

  3. When did you first become interested in photography?

I’ve always loved photography. Whenever I could, I would take disposable cameras and fill them with whatever caught my eye (to my mother’s dismay). But it wasn’t until May of 2018 that I actually picked up a “real” camera and really starting learning it front to back. And it just went from there!

  4. Biggest lesson you’ve learned through birth work?

To believe myself and trust my instincts. For so long (and thanks to depression) I was never very good at believing in myself. I didn’t grow up with very much support in my passions or what I was good at so I’m was very used to doing things myself. But the voice in my head would always second guess everything because I wasn’t ever really able to talk to people about my passions. So really getting comfortable with myself and what I’m good at and KNOWING that I’m good at it while trying to grow the supportive voice in my head has been a journey.

And trusting my instincts. We are always told to listen to what our gut or intuition is telling us, but how many times do we ignore it (like multiple times a day)? I’ve really been learning to tap into that, especially in the birth space since I’m an empath. Whenever I don’t listen to my gut, it typically comes out at some point later that my instinct was right (which I then kick myself for for not just speaking up). Whether it was baby position, suggesting a laboring position, or even what the birthing person was thinking (if they were stuck in their “thinking brain”).

It can be so difficult when you’ve gone you’re entire life second guessing yourself, to learning to trust yourself in everything you do. It takes time and is something I’m constantly working on, but is SO important in this line of work.

I loved this

I loved getting questions from those who are on this journey with me. I loved being able to connect with them and have them learn more about me, my passion, and my life! It is seriously so cool to be able to reach out to my community and receive such positive energy.

Thanks for joining me during my February IG AMA! I’m hoping to do this every month and will be able to take all the questions and put them in a blog just for you, right here!

Trust your baby. Trust your body. Trust the process.
