Ideas for Telling People You're Expecting!

THERE’S SO MANY IDEAS FOR THIS OMG 😱😍

Seriously, my list won’t even cover a fraction of your options! These are just the ones I’m thinking of when announcing to the hubby (or the world) that we’re pregnant with #2 or things we did when we announced the first pregnancy (which we ended up losing) and then our pregnancy with Killian 🌈💕

1. Lay Flat

   This is more so an original idea, where you place baby items, ultrasounds, any personal items, or flowers/greenery around them and take a photo from above. You can style it however you want make it as extravagant or simple as you like. I love these because these NEVER go out of style, and they are always freaking adorable.

2. Bun in Your Oven

   This is actually the one I’m leaning towards when announcing the pregnancy to my husband which I would totally film because he’s SO BAD at noticing things. I can already see him pulling it out and looking at me like I’m fucking crazy 😂 But it’s such a cute play on the words “bun in the oven.” Cute, simple, and to the point.

3. Have Your Animals Help

   This is what we did when we announced we were pregnant with Killian. We had both our dogs stand in front of our double doors to our room and placed a sign behind them saying something along the lines of “We’re being promoted, Baby Sonnenberg Due July 2017” or something like that. I was incapacitated with HG at the time so I looked like a hot fucking mess and didn’t want to be in any of the photos, so I pawned it all off on the dogs 😂 It ended up being really cute though.

   But you could even hire a professional photographer and have everything staged and look actually cute (instead of a hot mess like me 😂🙃) and have onesies or signs saying their promoted. UGH the ideas are endless when including the fur baby’s.

4. Show Up to an Event Wearing an Announcement Shirt

   With my first pregnancy, this is how we announced to my husband’s aunt and her wife at dinner one night. It was super early (I think I was about 5.5 weeks along) but we were so excited we wanted to tell someone! It was cute because it took them awhile to figure it out before it dawned on them that we were pregnant 😂

   It’s fun waiting to see how long it takes people to figure it out. Cue screaming and/or happy tears typically.

5. Games

   There are so many games that you can buy online for announcing you’re with child. Scratch off’s (like lottery scratch off’s) that you can gift people. There’s the game where people listen to music while trying to lip read (this one is hilarious if yo'u’ve seen videos online). There’s Pictionary or Charades if your family is into those games!

6. Cooking Night

   This one can be a bit tricky, but including the pasta sauce Prego, baby foods (more so like avocado, bananas, anything like baby’s first foods), NO ALCOHOL, and see if people catch on. I feel like this one would be more of a “long con” since you’re just patiently waiting to see if people figure it out.

You can announce whenever you want. You can announce however you want. You can be as extravagant or laid back as you want. These are just some of my favorite ways I’ve watched people announce they were expecting. Have fun with it if you’d like.

You’re announcing a new soul, a new being, a new part of you and your family. In my eyes it’s special. And however you tell people, it will always be special.
